HTC Sensation gets its own ICS ROM, Sense 3.5 already included

We all know that HTC promised Sensation users that the handset will also get a taste of Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich by next year but some folks over at XDA-developers have other things in their minds. Obviously with no plans of waiting for the official Ice Cream sandwich update to become available for the HTC Sensation, they took it upon themselves to come up with their very own ICS ROM for the handset.

Buy the HTC Sensation for $199 with HTC Sense 3.5 and now Ice Cream Sandwich.

And now, the Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the HTC Sensation is already available, thanks to the hardworking guys at XDA-developers. And not only that, the ICS ROM for the HTC Sensation is merged with HTC Sense 3.5 which pretty much keeps the look and feel of the handset’s user interface very HTC-like.

Unlike Alpha ROMs that have become available for other devices, the ICS ROM for the HTC Sensation has got almost everything working and is already good for everyday use, according to early adopters who have already flashed their devices with the said ROM. Well, if this is the case, you can always go ahead and try this ROM out if you really can’t wait for the official ICS update to hit the HTC Sensation.

If you prefer to wait, we have the specs sheet of the HTC Sensation with full details up next to keep you company.

The HTC Sensation was unveiled by HTC back in April and it immediately became one of the eagerly awaited Android superphones in 2011. It eventually hit the shelves in May ans been critically-acclaimed since then. The handset boasts of an aluminum unibody construction with dimensions of 126.1 x 165.4 x 11.3 mm and weight of 148 grams.

The T-Mobile HTC Sensation is now priced at $199 for new and existing customers.

Under the hood, we see the components that make up the internals of the HTC Sensation which are responsible for making it the flagship device of the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer. The HTC Sensation is based on the SnapDragon platform with a QualComm MSM8260 chipset at the heart of its operations. This SoC chipset gives the handset a dual-core 1.2GHz Scorpion processor and a dedicated Adreno 220 graphics engine.

Though the handset only has 768 MB of RAM supporting the processor, the combination is powerful enough to take care of all the tasks that are being thrown its way. in the same vein, the HTC Sensation only comes with a 1GB internal memory but the dedicated microSd card slot of the device allows a user to augment the meager onboard storage of the handset.

The HTC Sensation sports a 4.3-inch SuperLCD capacitive touchscreen display with a 540 x 96 qHD resolution and pixel density of 256 ppi. It also comes with a pair of shooters in the form of its 8MP rear shooter and VGA front video call camera. The rear shooter of the device comes with a pair of LED flash and an autofocus feature aside from being able to record 1080p videos with stereo sound at 30 frames per second.

These components in the innards of the HTC Sensation are responsible for making it the flagship device that it is and whether you become an early adopter of the ICS ROM with Sense 3.5 or wait for the official ICS update for the device, nothing will change the fact that the HTC Sensation is one of the best smartphones that money can get you today.
